Fumiko Shimada and Miyuki Nakamura formed a piano duo in 2002. Named “FF”, the duo is now known for their passionate style of performance. Soon after forming duo, PTNA (Piano Teachers' National Association of Japan) selected the duo as the Best Duo Performers in its Piano Competition, which lead them to perform at Cortot Hall of École Normale de Musique de Paris, France.
Other notable awards won by the Duo FF include the followings. One of the prizes included perform concerto for piano four-hands with chamber orchestra.

- Kayabuki Concert Hall Contest: First Prize and Special Recognition Award
- Aichi Piano Contest: Special Recognition Award, as well as Best Performer and the Chunichi Shimbun Award - Kitamoto Piano Contest: First prize and Concerto Award
Gaining the confidence, FF actively travels outside the country also. They attended Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes in Israel, with lecturers including Duo Admony and Nikolai Petrov. Here, FF’s performance on Students’ Concert was praised and honored to take a big part in gala concert at Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The local newspaper reported “astonishing performance”.
