An accomplished saxhoponist Joseph David Spence and pianist Jason Lo will perform the great modern Classical repertoire (of course some jazzy!) at the intimate Hoson House. It's going to an exciting, fun evening!

Saxophonist, composer, educator, Joseph David Spence has made a name for himself as a staunch advocate for the saxophone in the concert hall and in his own compositions. A native of Southern California, Spence has had the opportunity to perform in prestigious concert halls around the United States as well as internationally including: Meng Concert Hall, Hatch Recital Hall, He Lu Ting Concert Hall, and Beijing Concert Hall. His teachers include some of the most respected saxophonists of California including: Dr. Christopher Bartz, James Rötter, and John Hallberg. As the son of a film composer, Spence’s compositional voice takes its influences from the great film composers of our time in addition to the leading contemporaries of the classical music genre. Spence will complete his Bachelor of Music from California State University, Fullerton in 2016.

Pianist, teacher, and chamber musician, Dr. Jason Lo is an in-demand performer whose talents bring him across the nation and Europe.  He has enjoyed performances in France, England, and Carnegie Hall.  Dr. Lo served as a Teaching Assistant for the department of keyboard studies at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music.  He completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at USC, with minors in Theory, Instrumental Conducting, and Arts Leadership.  His primary teachers include Antoinette Perry (Piano) and Larry Livingston (Conducting).  He also studied with Craig Richey (CSULB), Susan Azaret Dacies (Cal Poly), Martin Canin (The Juilliard School), and Boris Slutsky (The Peabody Institute).
